AIR Profile: Lizzy Lunday
Lizzy Lunday focuses on the intimacy and instinctive relatability of contemporary portraiture. Her medium of choice is oil paint on canvas.
Lizzy earned her BFA in Painting at the University of Miami, during which she spent a summer abroad studying at Central Saint Martins in London. Prior to this, she studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Lizzy now lives in Virginia, where she has a studio in Falls Church and works in the Art League Gallery in Alexandria.
The focus of Lizzy Lunday’s work is portraiture. She finds this subject is one that viewers react and relate to instinctively. Though there is a person depicted in each of her paintings, she aims to capture the individual’s thoughts or feelings passing from the mind onto the face and into the eyes and ultimately transcending the individual to the universal.
AIR (Artist in Residence) is a 90 day program that offers local artists the opportunity to come work in studio spaces at Palette 22 on a weekly basis, while giving them a shared space to sell and highlight their work. Check out Lizzy, as well as other great local artists in person, today!
